    Description

    Japanese Boys DaySamurai Doll. Boys day is Celrbrated May 5th.
    Samurai with armor and helmet with dragon.
    It rests in a lacquer tansu box.Two of the legs have been re glued.
    Fine construction metal, silk and lacquer,dragon i.e. Gold covered.
    Black and white photograph shows the the son of the Counsel GeneralTomokazu Hori in the Japanese consulate in Los Angeles 1934,Kazuro's first boys day celebration.
    I inherited it from my mother in law Taye Hori ,she was the daughter of George Shima.You can google them it is an interesting story.
    If you are interested in the carp windsock you see in the background please contact me.  Color picture shows the Koinobori Carp Windsock.  Windsock is hand Painted ,it is wery large and long and flew from the mast of the Counsulate together with an even larger black one representing the father
    And another slightly smaller for the mother.
    . They were given by the Japanese Association of Southern California.
    The carp is not included in the purchase of the Samuri doll.
