Shipping with Insurance by USPS Priority Mail. Up for auction is a VINTAGE TINY RARE CAMBRIDGE 5.5" PRISTINE # 70 ELAINE ETCHED APPLIED HANDLED 20 OUNCE JUICE PITCHER/JUG. It is etched in the "Elaine" Pattern from 1933 to 1953. It is in absolutely perfect condition for its age, as can be seen in the photographs. In photos, it is often confused with the small 32 ounce pitcher which is much larger than this jug. This jug resemblers the 3900/117 except the it is NOT optic or gyro optic; therefore it is in the Pristine Pattern # 70. This glass comes from a bye-gone era when American manufacturing was an "art", as can be seen from the gorgeously designed delicate floral sprays enclosing laces between each. It probably took at least 8-10 people to create this one glass jug, from mixing and heating up the sand and other ingredients to the proper temperature, to pressing the glass mixture into the mold, and then slowly cooling it so it won't crack under use at home, and then adding a waxy resist doily before dunking into the hot acid etch, and then finally rinsing off the wax coating with hot water. Finally, after
polishing the glass to make sure it is completely clean, the handle is shaped and then applied and then fired a final time to make sure it lasts for many years of use. I only wish I had more, because it is so gorgeous. When used on a set dining room table for entertainment, this serving piece must have looked really graceful on the table. It measures about 5 1/2 inches high, and about 4 1/2 inches across its narrowest width and 5 1/2 inches wide from spout to handle side. It has a top opening of about 4 inches, and a 3 inch bottom diameter base, as can be seen in the photographs. It is absolutely beautiful and was purchased from an old estate sale on Long Island. Although it was pre-owned, it is in absolutely perfect condition, as seen in the photographs. I found it inside a closed dining room cabinet where it apparently sat on a top shelf for many years, and was hardly used, because there no scratches anywhere, especially on the bottom, as would be expected from an object this old. I have been collecting unusual vintage objects for many years, and always to describe the items as best as I can. I don't see any chips, fleabites, cracks, scratches, stains, cloudiness, or repairs anywhere on this jug. It comes from a smoke-free home. I only accept PayPal. and never charge extra for packaging and handling. Shipping and Insurance sent via USPS Priority Mail at a cost of .85. Payment is expected within 3 days, after which I will immediately ship out the jug as soon as payment is verified by eBay. Buyer may be subject to sales tax, which is collected by eBay, and never given to me at all. If payment is not received within 5 days, the jug will be relisted. Returns will be arranged only if I have shipped the wrong item, or if I have misrepresented the item or its condition. If you need more pictures or further details, please feel free to contact me. Please know that we can work together. I really would like a 5-star feedback from you. Thanks for looking at my auction, and "good luck".
