California Prop 65 Warning:
This should not apply to fossils, but in case someone may disagree, here we go to make those concerned California regulators happy: some rocks contain crystalline silica, which can cause lung cancer if inhaled. So don't grind or cut or try to inhale or eat your fossils. By the way, avoid beaches too, because there's a ton of crystalline silica out there that gets airborne all the time while building sandcastles or just naturally on a windy day. Natural rock may contain metals too that are unhealthy to eat. So use caution when handling your rock collection.
