MUNCIE 4 SPEED BILLET SHIFTER SHAFT SET
The new M-098-001 billet 1 piece Muncie shift shaft set was designed by Paul Cangialosi to fix several issues. Stock shifter shafts or shift cams often break the stud because they are too soft. They were also machined undersize so the normal side cover seal does not work correctly. Because the side cover is aluminum eventually the shaft will elongate the side cover bore. This will cause linkage alignment issues and compound oil leaks. This set is for the side cover only and does not include a reverse shaft.
Some factory two piece shafts have a tendency to crack where they are pressed together and others simply become loose. Newer 2 piece, welded 2 piece or cast 1 piece shafts lack quality dimensions and often times the seal surfaces exhibit a poor finish. Also some are made with case hardened 8620 material and still can twist under severe load. We made our SUPER661 shafts using heat treated 4140 Chrome Moly material. THEY ARE HARDER THAN ANY OTHER SHAFT ON THE MARKET. They also use grade 8 bolts and come with adapters for later 3/8-16 "bolt-on" style shafts. Superior fit and finish than anything currently available.

IMPORTANT NOTE: THESE ARE OVERSIZE SHAFTS AND REQUIRE THE COVER BORE TO BE REAMED TO .751"  SINCE THE FACTORY USED SIDE SEALS DESIGNED FOR A .750 DIAMETER SHAFT, OLDER AND CURRENT 2 PIECE SHAFTS ALTHOUGH CORRECT THEY ARE UNDERSIZE RELATIVE TO THE SEAL SPECIFICATIONS AND IT IS WHY THESE COVERS ALWAYS LEAKED.
