131st Infantry Division
was set up in October, 1940 from the elements of the 31st, 269th and 19th Infantry Divisions. The division saw extensive combat throughout 1941-1944 on the Eastern fornt mainly as a part of Army Group Center, participating in the Battles of Vyazma and Bryansk among others. It was eventually destroyed in East Prussia in the
Heiligenbeil Pocket in 1944.
