A Case of Need
written by Irving Ravetch and Harriet Frank, Jr., First Draft, June 2, 1971, 126 white pages bound in blue MGM wraps with two brass brads that is signed with initials by Irving Ravetch beneath a rubber-stamp of the number 12 that is followed by a handwritten hyphen followed by the letter X, in near excellent condition.  There are significant handwritten comments or changes on 10 pages, most by Irving. On the outer spine, Irving has written the title of the script so it could be seen when the script was placed on a shelf.  Between the time this script was written and the movie was released, the title had changed as well as the names of several of the main characters including the star whose name went from Pete Berry to Peter Carey.  The script comes from a recent estate sale of Ravetch and Frank.
In the movie, James Coburn plays a investigative pathologist in a Boston hospital in which the daughter of the hospital's chief of staff dies after an illegal abortion goes wrong.  A colleague is accused of performing the abortion.   Coburn doubts the attribution and seeks to find the truth.    The story comes from a book by Michael Crichton.  The movie was directed by Blake Edwards and starred Coburn and Jennifer O'Neill.
