    Description

    Petroleum or crude oil is a highly complex mixture of  cycloparaffinic and aromatic hydrocarbons, containing low percentages of sulfur and trace amounts of nitrogen and oxygen compounds. Said to have originated from plants and animal sources from millions of years ago. This sample is a golden tan, viscous liquid and considered sweet (low sulfur content).  It was derived from horizontal drilling and fracturing in a shale bedrock. Strata is Niobrara shale formation the the Denver/Julesburg basin/ Weld county/Colorado.
