WW II German Air Force Fliegerjacke - LEATHER PILOT JACKET - NICE!

Description

You are bidding on a NICE example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe Leather Fliegerjacke (Pilot Jacket), as used by many German fighter pilots throughout the war!
Development of protective flight uniforms began during WW1, and continued into WW2.  What developed were a 1-piece flight suit (2 for winter 1 for summer), which in 1936 developed into an electrically heated flight suit.  In the summer months, pilots often made private purchases to suit their own needs (such as this example).
Manufactured in heavy black leather, this  private purchase jacket is in VERY GOOD used condition.  All the zips are fully functional, and original to the jacket, apart from the main zip, which appears to be a post-war replacement.  Some obvious marks, wear, and stains throughout from use, but it does not detract.  Appears to have been converted from another jacket, as it has some period changes and repairs...along with a replacement liner.  Most likely was cut down from a longer jacket during the war.  Shoulder boards are original to the jacket, as well as the medal loops.  The leather is also still quite soft and supple!  The interior lining is made of a black cotton/rayon material, with some wear from use.  All buttons are wartime.  Shoulder boards show wear due to use and age.  The size is approx. 40R or so, so it would fit anyone with a small/medium build.  Overall an EXCELLENT example with normal surface and interior wear...would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display!
